They Didn't Quite Succeed

Listening to Pet Shop Boys always takes me back to my childhood :P
Ah, I can see it now.  Summer, working in the yard, music coming through the surround sound in the living room and backyard...There's a lot of light...
It's weird how many memories I have connected to two certain songs by them...

Anywho.

Stayed home sick today.  I didn't want to but this morning I had absolutely no strength at all.  I couldn't even press the Off button instead of snooze.

But I made it up by working on my english oral (now for the past 4-5 hours).  I think I'm making progress.
Dea is going to get some dinner soon and I'll do a couple of practice orals then.
I don't like doing it when somebody is listening :P
I'm sure you understand.

I'm so excited for all the upcoming events.  Hemavan, my birthday, more birthdays, Lady GaGa, prom, graduation.  All smashed up into just over 2 months.  I have to make sure I study though.  Really, now.

50 Dagars Fest

Yesterday was the 50-Something Days Left party at our house.
I think it went extremely well.

People who left IB were there, the entire class minus one was there...it wasn't a ridiculous amount of people but it was a good number i think :)

There was beer pong, flippy cup, and mojitos :D  Not to mention Earth Hour, Guitar Hero, and NHL :P

The rest of the pictures are on facebook now ;)

Dryg

The weather outside is super gloomy.
And I'm supposed to be in a good mood.
But all i can think about is how tired i am.
Oh well.  Life goes on.

I'll probably get all pepped up when people start arriving...

I need phone money...I guess I'll do that when I go into town to pick up Hanna and the things at Hemköp.

Today is also Earth Hour!
That's purty 'citin.
I know what my vote is ;)
We have candles set up.

Some pictures from last year:

(From Dallas skyline)

(Toronto)

(Sydney)

Just think about the difference that it makes.  It's a brilliant idea.  We should have more Earth hours.  I mean...yeah some lighting is necessary, but just look at these pictures!  Think of all the energy saved when everybody's lights go out just for an hour.

We've also cleaned the entire apartment.
Haha I have now taken the "Before" pictures which we're going to compare to the "After" ones later.
I wonder how many people are staying at our place tonight?
Hopefully not many.
I really don't want to take care of people.
And we don't have breakfast.

Who's knocking?

Don't Stop Believing

Sunday night was spent at Jennie's house where we made brownies and watched The Hurt Locker.
Amazing movie, I think.  But I think it's one of those movies where it's either you love it or hate it.  Very few people could call it in between.  It was a good type of film for me, however...I loved it.

I also think it's super cool that it got more awards than Avatar :P I haven't seen Avatar, but I don't feel especially...excited or interested in watching it.  I probably won't for a long time unless someone makes me so...yeah.

Anywho..  This week will be comprised of my Swedish oral on Wednesday, staying with my grandparents on thursday, and then having dinner at the opera house with my uncle and his family on friday before seeing the musical production of West Side Story.  I liked the movie (mostly) so I'm pretty excited about getting to see this musical.  Plus I have never had dinner at the opera house so that's pretty exciting.

Saturday is our 50-Something Day Party :)  I'm excited.  I'm hoping everything goes well, but as long as people show and just have a good time, everything will be great.  Everyone is welcome (unless told otherwise...).

Next Wednesday is my English oral.  Scaaary!  But everything is coming to an end soon!  And then Emma and I need to have our annual tequila night next week as well :)

I can't believe how fast time is going.  It's already almost April.  And then it'll be almost May.  And suddenly June and July and then we'll be entering university! Spännande :)  I'm a sucker for this stuff.  I love the idea of going to university and playing soccer again and joining a sorority and studying and working...I just don't know how it'll be...I've experienced a Swedish life and I'm not sure I'll be able to let that go...I'm much more swedish now than I was 2 years ago...

two years of my life.  that's amazing.  two entire years I'll have lived in Sweden.  two of my best years, as well...

Fall 2010

I know where I'll be.  Now I've really decided.  For sure.
I am going to Dallas.
Sweden has a lot to offer me, but I'd have to go to Komvux or something for a year which I realllly don't want to do.

So.  Home it is :)
That means I have until mid-July to enjoy swedish life...

I sincerely hope I am not making a mistake.

So.  UTD then either NYU or Stockholm or Umeå or Luleå/Piteå.
Haaah!
Why is Sweden so much fun?? :(

Films

I've been going through old videos on my computer and I've found the jackpot.
There are so many old old films that I died when I rewatched.
Aivy's birthday party, Humanities, the day we played hide and seek at Target...Dancing at Firewheel mall...
So many good times.

And then there are so many from last year and this year.  I died laughing when I watched them...
Soooo funny...

They are uploading/-ed on facebook so you should check them out later ;)

So great.
You guys are literally the greatest...

LMFAO

Hanna (2011)

"Hanna (Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider; these come from being raised by her father (Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Sweden. Living a life unlike any other teenager, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Ms. Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity."

The Moment Has Come

I am literally going to explode!!!
It feels like it anyways.

I have just gotten off skype with my parents after discussing a very possible birthday present.  It wouldn't be cheap and I would be so so grateful if I could have this gift and it would be so...amazing.

I asked my parents if I could go and after some thought into all the costs that would be involved, my dad goes "well, it would  be a memorable event..."

Me: So...about that birthday wish...
Dad: Yeah...I think it's a pretty definite yes.

So here it is:
I'M GOING TO GAGA!

[[may.7.2010.stockholm]]

Oh yes.  These two will be living it up in one of the best cities in the world in the same arena as GaGa ;)

Everyone's Talking

about Gaga's new video.
Directed by a Swede ;) (Jonas Åkerlund)

I thought it was interesting. I have to say, I loved the beginning of it when she pushes her crotch up against the bars and the guard says "I told you she didn't have a dick"

Nice little rebuttal :P

Mixed Emotions

"Noodling"

I was watching the new episode of Cougar Town when "Noodling" came up.  I recognized the term but I didn't really remember.  As soon as they explained it, horrible images came to my head.  I remembered.  Oh yeah.  Definitely remembered.

Noodling is when you stick your hand in a hole in a lake, looking for catfish.  The catfish will basically swallow your hand and you can then pull it up, basking in the glory of your newly caught fish.

It's disturbing is what it is.

I've never done it, but I learned what it was a couple years back.  It freaks me out, honestly.  Then again, it would definitely be facing my fears if I were to do it.  Fish freak me out.  Except for tropical fish...
I really love tropical fish.

Yes:

No:

(Oh my goodness, I'm pretty much hyperventilating just from looking at this picture now.  My feet are staying up and I'll be sleeping with the lights on tonight...I have a super irrational fear of Lake.  All because of the stupid association with that stupid but extremely terrifying dream I had...)

Artist of the Week

A favorite band of mine that I haven't listened to in a long time.

Ah!

So I just woke up now.
I dreamt the strangest things.
First I was in a hallway at school and Lady GaGa was in a cage (as in the cage from Shakira's She Wolf) with a batman mask on and she was dancing and performing for an open house night at school.

The thing was, no one showed except for a couple of people from our class.  So we were just hanging out with her and I was taking pictures with her and everything.  And then some other people from the Nature programme and they were performing a song and when I asked about what song it was, Lady GaGa told me it was the "Shortened version of the syllabus."  Weird.

Suddenly it was Dea and Jennie and I who were on a subway going to see a hockey game.  A lady was looking at tickets so we all went and hid cause we didnt pay for tickets and had just jumped on.  And suddenly there was Ted from Better Off Ted and I was hanging out with him and I totally have the hots for him so it was nice :P

Anyways, it was super strange.
And then when I woke up I found a text from Dea saying that Jay Z was going to Peace and Love.
I don't think I can afford to travel to Ireland or Scotland or whatever and see Eminem.  It's not just the plane tickets, but the camping and concert tickets are also suuuuper expensive.  It might be better to just see a festival in Sweden.  There are a couple with great artists coming...

Decisions, Decisions

Spännande :)

I'm pretty sure I want to go to UTD.  This letter made like all the difference.

Now I'm just going to get ready and eat something, then its off to town to see a movie with Jennie B :)

I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain

Most definitely number one on my "want" list. (About 1650:-)
They're one of the best headphones on the market though.
Not released yet.

I'm dying.

Today it is fika with my Farmor in the afternoon and then home to shower and do laundry (and do a MAJOR clean up) before going to meet Jennie and see Shutter Island! :)

Miss Beatrix Potter

Yesterday I watched a film with  my grandparents.  It was the film with Renee Zellweger as Beatrix Potter and Ewen McGregor as her publisher and it was just a simple and nice film.  I grew up with these stories so it was super nice to recognize all the small name.  Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter :)

I want a cat named Tom Kitten, a goldfish called Little Proof, two bunnies named Peter and Benjamin, and a golden retriever whose name I haven't found yet...

It's insane how much I love goldens.  It makes my heart ache thinking of getting another one though, after Snowy.  Snowy was so perfect, I can't imagine it...

But how could one resist?

I doubt that I'll have any pets in the next 5 or so years though, just because of school and probably moving around, I wouldn't want to do that to a pet.  Not if I couldn't give it the attention and love it deserves.  I might get a cat soon though.  We'll see.  Depends on where I am and such.

I can't wait to get a golden though.  They literally make my heart explode more than any other dog or animal really.  Maybe it's just the memories of Snowy...I'm not sure.

I miss her like crazy every day.

FAFSA

Nu sitter jag hos Farmor och Farfar, som har lagat en otroligt god middag åt mig.  Seriöst.
Pommes frites och nåt kött med mozzarella, soltorkad tomater, basilica, och oliver i mitten av köttet.
Suuper goda mat idag.

Jag är nästan klar med mitt FAFSA ansökning.  Bara lite kvar som jag behöver min pappas hjälp med.
Och jag har fått ett underbart kuvert från UTD.  My first acceptance letter :D
Hopefully not my last?

March 8th, 2010

My new necklace :D

Today's plan is to hang out with Ällish for a couple of hours (maybe play in the snow at the park!) and then take a bus to my grandparents, where I'll be staying for two nights.  I'm packing right now and eating a great breakfast.  No, really.  It's a great breakfast.

Rye bread with sunflower seeds in it + Kiwi = fantastic

It feels weird.  I'm going to be 18 very very soon :)

A Night at the Movies

More like several nights with several movies and several tv series.
Friday I went to Folkhögskola where I found out that I most likely will not be able to take the TISUS test and that would mean I would not be able to come into a Swedish university.  At least not in the fall, unless I opted to take a course in Swedish B.  Which is a bit too ridunk.

Afterwards I went home and ate something and then made way to Jennie's (just like pretty much every Friday night) to complete our weekly ritual of watching the new episode of Grey's Anatomy.  Yang and Grey = Me and Jennie in this episode.  Crazy.  It was so out of character for them and so...us? :P

Anyways, after that we watched the long awaited Brothers (after being completely pissed off that they were not showing it in Umeå, nor were they planning to ever show it and were misleading us for 4 months), which was amazing.  I think that the trailer made it seem more like Pearl Harbor, but it was actually much different.  Really good.  Followed byyy the Mentalist! (Thanks Maya, now we're both stuck on it..)

I got home and ended up baking Peanut butter chocolate cookies and watching Angels & Demons (also suuper good).

Today I went into town, bought tickets for Shutter Island (!) and then went shopping with Emma.  I finally found it! I found the necklace I've been searching for!  Love it :)

A War Lost

Yesterday Dea and I had a battle in the entryway.
She was messing around and pretending to pour water on me with my Powerade bottle (it was only water though)
I grabbed it and it started getting water on it and she had just put on hand lotion so it became slimy and very difficult to hold on to.
It ended with her holding it high above my head and pouring water on my face as I tried to grab it from her.
Noooot cooool....

The next hour was spent doing this:

Today it was lunch at school, hang out at Emma's for a while (but I couldn't stay long cause she was feeling sick and it was better to not be there too long) and then head back home to spaghetti and tomato sauce and most important of all: Laundry.

I.  Hate.  Laundry.
But I like having clean things :D

Artist of the Week

I think I'm going to start choosing a new artist of the week every week.
Right now, I've just discovered a couple of artists, the best one being Unkle Bob.

Check it out :)

Check and Check

History P3 and Mock Oral for Swedish B :) Over and done with!

Today was perfect for a day like today.
There isn't really a good way to explain it.
It made me feel like things were gonna be easy.

Summertime and the burning concrete

I miss my old team.

The First Day

Today is the first day of a whole new month.
It seems like just a few days ago that we were marveling over the fact that it was February.
Wasn't it only last week I was home in Dallas, spending the day at Galleria mall before going home and enjoying New Year's Eve with my family?

Sigh.

Time flies when you're having fun.

And there isn't so much fun left to be had.  Yes, lots.
But I'm getting closer and closer to July.
And then it's back to Dallas for a few years.
Maybe I can convince my parents to fund a trip back next summer (Summer 2011)?
That would be truly amazing, now wouldn't it?

I need to find an amazing high-paying job :P
Gooood luck with that!

Waffles

Waffles with fresh berries and whipped cream. Mmm Mmm!
Unfortunately, I could only eat one :(
It's too sweet!
But it's super good anyways.  Love it :)

The Last Week

Before sportlov, that is.

History P1 and P2 are done now.  I was amazingly calm during the test taking, so that was great.
I know they won't be good scores, but it makes me feel better knowing that I finished all the questions.

I think it could be fun being a lawyer.
I don't think I have the drive and wit to do well as a lawyer, but it could be fun.
But sometimes I wonder.
What if I become a lawyer in Texas and try to break a corrupt system?
But I'm kind of afraid that I would become corrupt as well.
Or consumed by my struggle against corruption.
We've all seen the movies.
Cough-Law Abiding Citizen-Cough

On a side note, this is incredibly disturbing...
